Identity Design

Identity design can be described as the art of visualising a personality for an organisation or individual.

A successful identity should convey the core values of the organistation in a way that is instantly recognisable, unique and visually attractive. In real terms a corporate Identity is the visual representation of an organization, including its logo, design, typefaces and colours, as well as its philosophy.

So how can a simple logo or typeface convey a complex set of ideas?

The combination of colour and shape can often provoke an emotional or sub-conscious reaction from the viewer, this is not a new idea and has been used by artists for centuries. In modern design these techniques are supported by typography and the use of a constantly changing visual language that has developed since mass media began with the invention of Gutenberg's printing press.

When applied consistently to all communications, the identity communicates the organisation's aims and ideals through a process of association.
