Content Management Systems

A content management system (CMS) is a web-based computer application used to create, edit, manage, and publish content in a consistently organized fashion. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, versioning, and publishing industry-specific documentation online such as news articles, operators' manuals, technical manuals, sales guides, and marketing brochures. The content managed may include text, image media, audio files, video files and electronic documents.

Well that's the Wikipedia definition but in reality what can a CMS do for your website?

The advantages of running your website on a CMS as opposed to static html files are numerous:

There are hundreds of different type of CMS available from open source solutions to proprietary applications. Our preferred systems are Expression Engine and Wordpress.
